So, since you probably missed it, here's what the town hall was all about: a religious revival disguised as a news event. It was also a sacred statement from Weiss, editor-in-chief of CBS News, and David Ellison, owner of Paramount's parent company Skydance.
All was revealed in Kirk's wonderful sermon, a literal come-to-Jesus moment that would not have happened even in the secular days of Walter Cronkite on CBS. Bob Milgrim, spectator, whose daughter Sarah was killed in an act of horrific anti-Semitic violence in May, asked Kirk to condemn anti-Semitism, Holocaust denial and anti-Zionism. It made sense. Also strange. Why ask about an anti-Semitic crime when we are talking about the political violence caused by the murder of Kirk's non-Jewish husband Charlie, a Christian nationalist? Kirk took the question calmly.
“I will pray for you,” she said. said to Milgrim. “It sucks, doesn't it? Hate is hate. It's evil. Charlie and I have always been very clear about our position – Israel, the Jewish people. It's terrible… What healing factor comes from hating the Jewish people? What healing factor comes from hating Christians? … Charlie has always been very clear: Hatred of the Jews is brain rot.”
