YouTube, PlayStation top Downdetector’s largest outages of 2025

Down detector from Ookla shared data on the most significant service outages in North America and around the world in 2025, based on millions of reports received by the service.

According to Downtetector, PlayStation Network (1.6 million), YouTube (1.5 million) and AWS (1.2 million) were the top three outages in the US and Canada, with all three reporting more than 1 million.

Interestingly, having barely reached the list of 483,000 messages, The call was disconnected back in May. To refresh your memory, this is a trip affected Telus and Bell customers in Quebec and Ontario after Bell router update made them go down right at 9 a.m. Eastern Time.

Also appearing on the list was the April 16 Spotify outage, with 601,000 messages received on Downdetector when the music streaming giant went down around 8:00 a.m. ET.

Globally, Downdetector also reported that the AWS outage resulted in more than 17 million reports across Amazon and other affected services. Similarly, a PlayStation Network outage resulted in 3.9 million messages on Downdetector. Interestingly, Cloudflare wasn't far behind, with its outages resulting in over 3.3 million reports across all affected services.
