Kamala Harris Struggles to Explain to Kimmel Why Biden was ‘Right’ to Not Push DoJ to Release the Epstein Files

Failed presidential candidate Kamala Harris struggled to explain to left-leaning ABC late-night host Jimmy Kimmel why Joe Biden's Justice Department never attempted to release documents related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Harris insisted it was critical to maintain “absolute separation” between the Biden administration and the Justice Department.

“To give you an answer that won't satisfy your curiosity, I will tell you: We believed, perhaps to our detriment, firmly and rightly that there should be an absolute separation between what we wanted as an administration and what the Department of Justice was doing. We absolutely stuck to that, and that was the right thing to do,” Harris told Kimmel.

“The Department of Justice will make its decisions regardless of any political or personal vendettas or concerns we may have, and that's how it works,” she added.

Harris' response quickly inflamed left-wing pundits and social media figures who wanted the Biden White House to weaponize Epstein's files against then-candidate Trump. There's a similar cacophony of laughter on conservative social media, with multiple posts pointing to Breitbart editor-in-chief Alex Marlow marked in his New York Times best-seller Break That Lawthat “there is clear evidence of collusion on the part of the Joe Biden White House” in the anti-Trump cases against Trump and the Biden Justice Department.

Harris suggested Trump could somehow prevent the Justice Department from releasing the documents in their entirety, expected to happen Friday, and praised elected Republicans “who stood up to demand the release of the file.”

The lengthy interview began with Kimmel asking Harris to tell the now-worn story about how her husband forgot to give her a birthday present during the 2024 campaign. After a few minutes and a lot of giggles, Kimmel asked, “Did you and Doug just start drinking after the election?”

“Let me just say it definitely took us a while,” Harris said.

Kimmel then asked Biden some questions. Harris said she hasn't spoken to the former president in “about three or four weeks.” Asked if she believed Biden and his team did everything they could to help her win the election, Harris said she didn't get the support she needed from “certain places in the administration.”

Kimmel then turned his attention to President Donald Trump, asking Harris whether it was hypocritical that so much attention was being paid to Biden's aging and mental state by people who now wouldn't criticize Trump for appearing to fall asleep during meetings.

“You think.” Harris said to loud laughter from Kimmel and the studio audience.

The discussion then devolved into a therapy session, during which the pair took turns insulting Trump as they tried to figure out the best way to deal with his return to power.
