The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed Canadian offensive lineman Dayton Black.
The six-foot-six, 295-pound blocker was selected sixth overall by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the 2023 CFL Draft. As a rookie, he appeared in 17 regular-season games and made one start at right guard.
Black spent most of the 2024 season on Hamilton's six-game injured list before being promoted to the practice squad. He participated in training camp with the team in 2025, but was released before its completion.
The 26-year-old signed with the Ottawa Redblacks in June and played five regular-season games before being promoted to the practice squad. He was released in August.
Native of Brandon, Man. played collegiately at the University of Saskatchewan, where he was named a 2022 Canada West All-Star.
The Roughriders also signed All-American defensive lineman Devin Adams.
The six-foot-two, 285-pound defensive end spent the last two years with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, recording 25 defensive tackles, six sacks and one special teams tackle in 24 regular-season games.
The 27-year-old Miramar, Florida native played for Peru State, where he had 156 tackles, 59 tackles for loss, 21 sacks, five knockdowns and two forced fumbles. He also carried 131 times, averaging 39.9 yards per attempt. He was named first team All-Conference twice as a defensive lineman and punter.
Adams finished the 2025 season on Winnipeg's practice squad, making him immediately eligible to sign with any CFL team.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders finished atop the West Division standings in 2025 with a 12-6 record, finishing first in the West Division for the first time since 2019. The team then defeated the Montreal Alouettes in the 112th Gray Cup in Winnipeg, the team's first championship in 12 years. Trevor Harris went 11-5 as a starter, throwing for 4,549 yards, 24 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
The Roughriders ranked second in net offense, second in net defense and third in turnover differential of plus eight. The club's leading rusher was AJ Ouellette with 1,222 yards, the leading receiver was KeSean Johnson with 1,159 yards, and the leading tackler was AJ Allen with 91 tackles. Saskatchewan ranked second in attendance with an average attendance of 28,427, up 2.7 per cent from the previous year.
