The Calgary Stampeders have signed American Dedrick Mills to a two-year contract that keeps him with the team until 2027. He was a pending free agent.

The 28-year-old won the CFL title in 2025 with 250 carries for 1,409 yards and 11 touchdowns in 18 regular-season starts. He also rushed 14 times for 111 yards in the Western semi-final loss to the BC Lions.

“Dedrick has proven in 2025 that he is one of the best defensive players in our league,” Stampeders head coach and general manager Dave Dickenson said in a statement. “He has improved every year since joining the team and we look forward to seeing his best results in 2026.”

Mills rushed for 3,593 yards, caught 98 passes for 847 yards, returned three kickoffs for 55 yards and scored 18 touchdowns in 51 CFL regular-season games.

“I’m excited to be back at Stamps and continue to build on what we started,” said the Waycross, Georgia native. “This city, this locker room and this team mean a lot to me, and I’m ready to get back to work.”

Mills was named 3DownNation'17th place in the list of pending free agents earlier this offseason.

The Calgary Stampeders finished third in the West Division standings in 2025 with an 11-7 record, but lost in the Western semi-finals to the BC Lions. Vernon Adams Jr. threw for 4,247 yards, 21 touchdowns and 14 interceptions in 17 regular season starts, posting an 11-6 record.

The Stampeders ranked fourth in net offense, seventh in net defense and second with a plus-nine turnover margin. Dedrick Mills won the CFL title with 1,409 yards, while the team's leading receiver was Dominic Rhymes with 886 yards and the leading tackler was Jacob Roberts with 102 tackles. Calgary ranked fifth in attendance with an average attendance of 22,295, up 3.5 per cent from the previous year.
