A new challenge awaits in the fractured ranks
Broken ranks expands its world with Trials of the Lodge, a roguelike-inspired mode that adds a new rhythm to the turn-based MMORPG. Available to players level 35 and above, the update introduces a more dynamic and unpredictable experience, designed to break away from the usual weekly routines.
Lodge trials are based on repeated runs based entirely on chance. The arena layout, enemy encounters, modifiers and rewards change with each attempt. This keeps players on their toes and forces them to make tactical decisions on the fly. After each victory, players choose how to proceed next, shaping their path step by step. This mode supports both single and group play and is divided into five levels, making it accessible at different stages of development.
Each arena always has an opponent, but encounters often include additional features such as buffs, debuffs, special effects, shops, or unique rewards that influence strategy. According to the developers, the goal was to create an experience that would remain interesting over time, rather than something that was completed once and left behind.
The main feature of the update is a new development system directly related to testing. Even unsuccessful attempts yield aitar, a special currency used to unlock permanent character upgrades. These improvements apply both within the mode and throughout the game. Among them are Infusions, a new type of enhancement that allows players to buff the stat they currently consider to be their weakest.
The update also introduces an aspect system that gives stronger enemies certain traits. Over time, players will be able to increase their effectiveness against certain types of enemies, adding another layer of long-term growth.
Challenge entries reset weekly, with separate limits for solo and group runs. In addition to XP and Psych, players can earn rare gear, synergies, and useful support items that encourage regular experimentation and mastery.
