Apple released iOS 26.2 on Friday, and the update adds several new settings to your iPhone including another way to configure some Liquid glass items on your device, and some important bugs have been fixed. If you downloaded the update and noticed that your device's battery is draining faster than usual, Apple has written online that this is normal and, most importantly, temporary.
Some people notice their battery for iphone drains quickly after downloading the update, and Apple issued a statement in September saying it was nothing to worry about.

“This is normal because your device takes time to complete the setup process in the background, including indexing data and files for search, downloading new resources, and updating apps,” Apple wrote on the support page. “Immediately after completing an update, especially a major release, you may notice a temporary impact on battery life and thermal performance.”
But using your iPhone for personal purposes can also drain your battery. Apple said some features may require more resources to operate, so depending on how often you use your iPhone, you may “notice a slight impact on performance and/or battery life.”
So, while your device may experience some extra battery drain initially, this should become a temporary issue once you download iOS 26.1. If you find yourself using your iPhone more after downloading iOS 26.1, this could also be contributing to your battery drain.
