MILAN — MILAN (AP) — Mariah Carey about to add to the pedigree of American pop stars opening ceremony for the upcoming Winter Olympic Games in Milan Cortina.
The local organizing committee announced Monday that Carey, 56, “All I want for Christmas is you” the singer is the first international star invited to perform at the ceremony on February 6 at Milan's San Siro football stadium.
“See you in Milan” – “See you in Milan” – Carey announced this on Instagram..
“Mariah Carey fully reflects the emotional atmosphere that accompanies the preparation for the Games,” the committee said. “Music is a universal language that attracts different stories and feelings and is intertwined with the opening ceremony’s theme of harmony.”
The Games will take place in northern Italy, and simultaneously, but on a smaller scale, the opening ceremonies will also take place in the three mountain clusters.
World famous ballet star Roberto Bolle will lead the closing ceremonywhich is scheduled for Ancient Roman Arena of Verona February 22.
