Toronto Argonauts cornerback Derek Slivka has NFL workouts scheduled this week with the Indianapolis Colts and Cincinnati Bengals, agent John Perez confirmed. 3DownNation. TSN was the first to report this news.
The 24-year-old Waterloo, New York native will visit the Colts on Tuesday and then visit the Bengals on Friday. These are his first two NFL workouts this offseason.
Slivka was a standout rookie for the Argonauts in 2025, recording 46 defensive tackles, six special teams tackles, three interceptions, two forced fumbles, one defensive touchdown and one field goal return touchdown over 15 regular-season games. He was Toronto's nominee for Most Outstanding Newcomer.
The six-foot-three, 215-pound defensive back attended training camp with the Colts in 2024, although he was converted to wide receiver. He caught three passes for 27 yards in the preseason, but was released before the start of the regular season.
Slivka played collegiately at Ithaca College, where he made 119 tackles, seven tackles for loss, 11 interceptions, 30 pass knockdowns, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and four blocked kicks.
NFL Practice Window opened on Monday, November 17th. and will close on February 10, 2026. CFL players will not be able to sign with an NFL team until January 5, 2026.
NFL teams must request permission from CFL franchises to train players, but the request cannot be denied. CFL players can opt out of their agreements north of the border if an NFL team offers a contract, although the CFL team retains its exclusive rights to the remainder of the pre-existing contract.
