Now that Diablo 4 players spent several days with the long-awaited game Paladin classavailable now if you pre-order Lord of Hate ExpansionIt's clear that Blizzard is having success.
Longtime Diablo fans have been waiting Diablo 4 Paladin since launch, and judging by the many early reactions, the nearly three year wait has been worth it. If Blizzard has learned anything from the Diablo 4 community over the game's turbulent history of updates, I can only assume it's that they're a bunch of agents of chaos who thrive in a wildly unbalanced environment, and it looks like the new buddy is delightfully broke.
With these multipliers, the damage on the third day of the game is around hundreds of trillions 😅 pic.twitter.com/OFHTtdqMHDDecember 14, 2025
As expected from someone who has covered Diablo 4 for years, there has been little resistance to this from the community. “Big numbers, big fun – let's go!” reads one answer.
“hush hush, don't start this to make people have fun ;)” another commenter said.
In the Diablo subreddits, the reaction is even more uniform and enthusiastic, and there is even brand new subreddit dedicated exclusively to class and buildcraft.
“I'm having a great time,” he said top comment in a recent thread. “Paladin takes me back to D2, the new AI is very good and the new divine blessing options are great. I stopped playing right before I got the Doom TDA and it took away my free time, but with this holy fighter expansion I'm back into D4 again.”
“Paladin is great! The skills are enjoyable, effective and synergistic,” reads another comment. “The game is currently MUCH more fun than it has ever been.”
“So crazy fun” someone else said.
As someone who returned to Diablo 2 straight after finishing Diablo 4's main campaign and only returned in sporadic hour-long chunks, I'm sorely tempted to pick up Lord of Hatred and check out the new Paladin after researching and writing this story. And if you feel the same way, it might be better to do it sooner rather than later, since there's no telling how long it will take Blizzard to nerf their broken holy warrior.
