CBS News simply couldn't stop reporting on Bari Weiss' bizarre photo shoot with Erica Kirk amid a weekend filled with high-profile stories of bloodshed around the world.
Kirk, who now heads Turning Point USA, her late husband's conservative youth organization, appeared on CBS News Town Hall Saturday is moderated by Weiss. Shortly before the town hall aired, another story emerged: There was an active shooter at Brown University, CBS News published on X.
Through Saturday evening, the CBS News X account posted its town hall with Kirk 12 times, but posted only four updates about the deadly shooting in Rhode Island that killed two students and wounded eight others.
By Sunday morning, a tab appeared at the top of the CBS News website giving readers a quick way to access important information about the Brown University shooting, but right in front of it was another tab which will lead them to more content from Kirk's Town Hall.
On the same day, a mass shooting at a Jewish gathering on Bondi Beach in Australia left 15 people dead. After CBS News published Kirk's interview three times in a rowX users began to notice that a major news company wasn't really covering the news.

While the CBS News account posted on X 12 times about the Bondi Beach shooting, it also continued to post about the Kirk town hall six more times: the same number of times it provided updates on the investigation into the Brown University shooting.
So, over the weekend, CBS News managed to publish as many as 18 posts about Kirk, 12 posts about the Bondi Beach shooting and only 10 posts about Brown University.
By Monday morning, another major story had come to light: the apparent murder of Rob Reiner and his wife. As of 3:30 p.m. Monday, CBS News had reported Reiner's death 11 times. However, the network published only one post about President Donald Trump. disgusting reactionwhere he claimed that Reiner caused his own death because his hatred of Trump angered those around him. CBS News X account wrote the president is simply “derogatory”[d] political views” of the famous director. continuation as well as writing about Kirk Town Hall throughout the day.
In her first memo to CBS News staff when she took office in October, Weiss wrote: proclaimed that she planned to tell “the world as it really is.” But it seems that she pretty boring trend gravitate towards right-wing commentators who will help us understand that our peace will always come first.
