Canadian tennis player Victoria Mboko has been named WTA Rookie of the Year.

The professional women's tennis tour announced its year-end award winners on Monday.

Mboko, 19, from Toronto, has moved her ranking from the top 300 to the top 20 after an impressive 2025 campaign.

Her breakout season culminated in August when she won the WTA 1000 National Bank Open in Montreal. En route to her first tour title, she defeated four Grand Slam singles champions, including four-time major winner Naomi Osaka in the final.

She also won the WTA title in Hong Kong in November, won four straight ITF World Tennis Tour titles earlier in the year and reached the third round of the French Open.

Last week she was named one of the International Tennis Federation's five future stars and was recently hosted by Prime Minister Mark Carney at his Parliament Hill office.
