The company says no other injuries have been reported and it is working closely with all regulators.

It says that an emergency response team was deployed at the mine and the site was secured.

The company says all mining activities have been temporarily suspended and an investigation is ongoing.

“The safety and well-being of our people remains Mosaic’s highest priority,” the company said in a statement Monday.

“Our thoughts go out to our colleague's family and friends, all employees and the wider community. We ask that the family be given privacy during this difficult time.”
