CES 2026 is one of the biggest technology events on next year's calendar. Garmin A leak has just revealed what could be one of the company's biggest announcements at the show, which kicks off on January 6th.
News site Rumors about Garmin found links on the Indonesian Garmin website to the yet-to-be-released Vivosmart 6 fitness tracker. It will be the successor to the well-received Vivosmart 5 and may have a number of features that will take it up a notch.
In particular, the leak indicates that Vivosmart range will receive built-in GPS tracking for the first time. This will mean you'll no longer have to rely on your phone's GPS tracking while exercising outdoors, giving you a more convenient way to log and track your routes.
In this regard, Garmin Rumors noticed a description on the Garmin Indonesia website that read: “[The] Vivosmart 6 is a stylish sports watch suitable for both men and women. It comes with built-in GPS and over 30 sports apps. This watch can track activities such as walking, running, cycling, swimming and even wheelchair users, making it an ideal choice for your daily activity tracker.”
With 30 sports available to track, users should have much more options than the 14 that are available with the Vivosmart 5.
Further leaks
Additionally, a placeholder page for the Vivosmart 6 has prematurely appeared on Garmin's Swedish website, further bolstering the idea that a new wearable is on the way.
And an unknown Garmin device with model number A04986 was registered with the National Radio Research Agency of South Korea. It used the “Fitness Products” category adopted by previous Vivosmart devices, rather than the “Smart Watches” category used in Phoenix And Forerunner wearable devices. Given the timing, CES 2026 seems like a logical place for the product to debut.
Garmin may have ventured into new territory with its Index sleep monitor And Smart scales Index S2 in recent years, but this fitness trackers remain the main problem along with popular smart watches – and it looks like we'll see a new tracker at CES 2026.
While exact pricing and a release date are unknown, it seems pretty clear that Garmin is almost ready to introduce its newest wearable device to the world – and we'll bring you all the official news when it happens.
