Imagine that someone really popular and respected said something incredibly rude about you, seemingly for no reason. Horrible! Now imagine that other popular and respected people almost immediately publicly contradicted the first person who said how talented and kind you are. This is the world Paul Dano lives and is now his friend Ethan Hawke shares an important point that Dano needs to consider. Talking about Joe Rogan Podcast, Hawke says the whole situation with the “hateful” comments between Quentin Tarantino and Dano is a “great lesson” in dealing with negativity. “I don’t think Paul Dano ever knew that so many people loved him,” Hawk said. “He has to wake up one morning and find out that this director has attacked him and is saying these hateful things, but anyone who knows Quentin knows that he just talks and talks. Anyone who knows Paul knows that he is a world class person.”

Previously this monthIn a podcast, Tarantino called Dano “weak sauce” and “the worst actor in SAG” for his performance in There will be Blood. Since then, many representatives of Hollywood, like Daniel Day-Lewis and Ben Stillerpublicly expressed their support for Dano. Hawke concludes: “There's all this love for Paul coming out. There's a great lesson there. You don't have to worry about the negativity people send your way.”
