Ashes of creation has a pretty extensive class system that dictates how you play the game and clear different content, and this will largely depend on whether you're doing PvP or clearing all the content alone.
The Early Access version is available on Steam and offers eight classes for you to try out. All eight classes have their own unique playstyles, strengths and weaknesses. However, the best choice will depend on whether you intend to play solo or PvP.
I will list the top two options that I consider to be the best for both modes.
Best Ashes of Creation Classes for Solo
Solo game in Ashes of creation in my experience, it's a bit difficult. While all eight classes can work well in the right hands, there are two that work really well for me.
- Priest: Most of your problems will go away if you don't die in the first place. The Cleric set will make it very difficult for you to die if you use the abilities correctly. Both Divine Flare and Liberation provide powerful healing, allowing you to survive the deadliest of attacks. Smite and Juggernaut add enough damage potential that you can damage enemies at will. This may be the safest choice you can make if you're playing alone.
- Summoner: The reason is quite simple. You play on your own, but you are never alone. Most of the work will be done by your call signs, they are also pets. They will tank, deal damage, and even heal depending on what you summon. You can fill every possible role with the Summoner class, making it a worthy choice.
Best Ashes of Creation Classes for PvP
Compared to single-player, you'll have to be more selective with your classes if you want to stick to the meta. Here are my top two options when you're fighting other players.
- Fighter: The good old Fighter class is a great choice for PvP. His greatest strength is his superiority in close combat. It will be very helpful if you can get close to enemy players before putting them to sleep. The fighter can also heal himself with Blood Fusion. The kit also includes a position change function that allows you to change the situation depending on the battle situation.
- Priest: No wonder what I believe best class in Ashes of creation great in PvP. If you're fighting as a team, healing becomes even more important. In PvP, you'll want to use the Cleric in a full-time role, and your job will be to keep the team alive (unlike Solo, where you'll also have to deal damage).
