As the world continues to be baffled by the comet known as 3I/ATLAS approaching its closest point to Earth, one scientist says it's anything but normal – according to new photos.
A mysterious interstellar object flying through our solar system “changes color” as it approaches its closest point to Earth. One scientist is now confident that it really could be “stranger spaceship” headed our way.
The object, called 3I/ATLAS, has come quite close to Earth once before and has been photographed by some of our most advanced space satellites. However, one scientist stated that this object is not something natural and could instead be a potential spaceship from another galaxy.
Now, as new images arrive from our satellites in space, they show a huge shift in the color of the object. It goes like this The earth is preparing for the next touch with the “interstellar guest”.
Theoretical physicist Avi Loeb was convinced that 3I/ATLAS was not just a comet streaking through the solar system. Instead, he believes that it may actually be a form of transport for an alien species exploring planets.
Looking at a new series of images from satellites observing the object, Avi said the halo surrounding the flying object was changing colors. This only adds to the confusion about the nature of the object as it moves through our solar system.
He wrote about this on his blog, uploaded to Middle: “The post-perihelion image combines exposures through four filters—blue, green, orange, and red—and its maximum brightness is centered on the 3I/ATLAS core. The color of the glowing halo appears green, possibly due to diatomic carbon (C2) molecules that emit green light.
“The pre-perihelion image released on September 4, 2025, by the twin 8.1-meter Gemini South telescope in Chile shows the red glow around 3I/ATLAS. The change in color from red to green means that the molecular composition of the plume of gas emitted by 3I/ATLAS has changed near the Sun.”
Avi also added that at the time the photos were taken, a new glow was visible around the object, which he described as a “plume of gas.” He attributed this to a burst of so-called gamma rays, which are used to sterilize medical instruments and even kill cancer cells.
The explosion is believed to have lasted about seven hours when it was first discovered back in July, around the same time 3I/ATLAS was first discovered. However, the flash, according to Avi, was followed by a supernova, a huge explosion of a star.
“This means that an ultralong burst occurs as a result of a random cosmic event once every 14 years, during which a total of about 4,000 bursts occur,” he wrote. “Therefore, the 7-hour gamma-ray burst should coincide within 17 degrees of the 3I/ATLAS arrival direction once every 670 years.”
Unable to prove that the explosions could have been the result of 3I/ATLAS, Avi remains confident that there is a connection between the asteroid-like object and aliens. He ended his blog post with a touching poem that talks about the mystery of the object and how it may actually be an alien spaceship.
The poem contains a strange call to thank Avi for his predictions about when the aliens will land on shore. “The confusion spread and seemed to cover the shaky globe; we have yielded dominance,” the poem says, “The earth has taken off its cap to Avi Loeb.”
