While Eli Camara, Cherif Ndiaye and Boulay Dia return to the tournament, Mamadou Lamine Camara, Abdou Diallo and Rassoul Ndiaye remain on the sidelines.

Here are three big absentees from Lions of Teranga:

Mamadou Lamine Camara

A regular player in recent squads, Mamadou Lamine Camara, was not selected this time. The RS Berkane midfielder is among the most notable absentees, especially as he was keen to play the tournament at home in Morocco.

Abdou Diallo

Despite his vast experience, the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations champion was not called up by Pape Tio. His absence is mainly due to inconsistent playing time at club level, as well as stiff defensive competition from Kalidou Koulibaly, Moussa Niahate, Abdoulaye Seck and El-Hadji Malik Diouf.

Rasoul Ndiaye

Called up last November to cover frequent absences, Rassoul Ndiaye is now out due to the return of several regulars in midfield. Despite his strong form at Le Havre, he missed the mark – a poor gamble that did not pay off.
