Denver Broncos work out eight CFL players, including B.C. Lions’ highlight-reel DB Robert Carter Jr.

The Denver Broncos coached eight CFL players on Friday, including BC Lions defensive end Robert Carter Jr.

Carter started all 18 games in 2025, earning the Lions' Most Outstanding Rookie nomination. He recorded 51 defensive tackles, five interceptions, one forced fumble and a defensive touchdown. Carter also started both of the team's playoff games, adding a 95-yard kickoff return touchdown in the Western Semifinals.

The five-foot-10, 175-pound cornerback quickly earned a reputation for making spectacular plays. This included one-handed jumping interception against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats this drew attention to the videos on both sides of the border and widely considered the CFL's game of the year..

Prior to signing with the Lions, Carter attended Robert Morris University, where he was a second-team all-conference selection as a senior in 2024. In two seasons with the Colonials, he had 66 tackles, eight tackles for loss, two sacks, 14 pass breakups, five interceptions and two blocks, and returned 22 kicks for 588 yards and one touchdown.

The Danville, Virginia native transferred from UVA-Wise, where he had 74 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, 17 pass breakups, seven interceptions and one fumble recovery in two seasons. Carter also returned 31 kickoffs for 660 yards and one touchdown for the Division II program.

It was Carter's first NFL workout. According to sources, more are expected in the coming days.

Also in attendance in Denver were Saskatchewan Roughriders receiver Donte Meyers, Hamilton Tiger-Cats cornerback Destin Talbert, Winnipeg Blue Bombers returnee Trey Vaval, Hamilton Tiger-Cats linebackers Devin Veresuk and Braxton Hill and Toronto Argonauts cornerback Andrew Chatfield Jr., according to the NFL. Additionally, the group included Hamilton Tiger-Cats returnee Isaiah Wooden Sr. as first reported 3DownNation.

In 2025, Meyers had a breakout season with the Roughriders, recording 65 catches for 1,056 yards and eight touchdowns to make the All-Western Division. The 25-year-old first joined Saskatchewan in 2024 when he caught 24 passes for 349 yards and one score.

The five-foot-ten, 190-pound target finished his collegiate career at Delta State University, a Division II program located in Cleveland, Mississippi. In his senior season, he was named first team All-Conference after hauling in 65 receptions for 877 yards and eight touchdowns.

This was Meyers' third NFL workout since visiting the stadium. Minnesota Vikings And Chicago Bears.

Talbert joined the Tiger-Cats in 2024 and appeared in all 36 of the team's games over two seasons, establishing himself as one of the league's top young linebackers. The 26-year-old has 113 defensive tackles, three special teams tackles, five interceptions and one defensive touchdown for the Black and Gold.

The Darien, Illinois native attended North Dakota State, where he played 67 games over five seasons. He totaled 144 tackles, three tackles for loss, 25 pass breakups, four interceptions, two forced fumbles and one defensive touchdown as a Bison.

It was Talbert's first NFL offseason workout.

Vaval was recently named the CFL's Most Outstanding Rookie and Most Outstanding Special Teams Player. He led the league in punt return yards (957), punt return yards (391) and total punt return touchdowns (four) in 2025, while also ranking third in all-purpose yards (2,266) and fifth in field goal yards (918).

He also started four games at defensive end for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, recording 21 defensive tackles, four special teams tackles and one interception.

The 25-year-old finished his collegiate career at the University of Minnesota, where in 25 games he recorded 69 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, 14 pass knockdowns, five blocks, two interceptions, two touchdowns and one sack. The five-foot-eleven, 171-pound speedster from Blue Springs, Missouri, attended training camp with the Atlanta Falcons in 2024 before heading to Canada.

Vaval has currently trained for five NFL teams, including New Orleans Saints new york jets Cleveland BrownsAnd Minnesota Vikings.

Veresyuk was the second overall pick in the 2025 CFL Draft and played 15 regular-season games at middle linebacker in his first year for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He recorded 66 defensive tackles, three special teams tackles, two sacks, two touchdowns, one forced fumble and one interception. The Windsor, Ontario native was named the Eastern Division's Most Outstanding Rookie.

The 24-year-old football player played for the University of Windsor team. He recorded 160 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, nine sacks, five pass knockdowns, two forced fumbles and one interception, returning for a touchdown with the Lancers, and was named an OUA All-Star in 2024.

This was Veresyuk's fourth NFL workout since visiting the stadium. New Orleans Saints, Houston TexansAnd Cleveland Browns.

Hill began the 2025 season with the Saskatchewan Roughriders before being released and signing with the Tiger-Cats. He played in eight games for the team, making 16 defensive tackles, 14 special teams tackles and two interceptions.

The 26-year-old played for the University of Montana, where he played in 51 varsity games and recorded a total of 231 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, nine sacks, eight pass breakups, two interceptions and two fumble recoveries. As a senior, he was named a first-team All-Big Sky All-American.

It was Hill's second NFL workout since the team's stoppage. Cleveland Browns earlier this week.

In 2025, Chatfield played 17 games for Toronto, recording 42 defensive tackles, seven sacks and a defensive touchdown. The 27-year-old spent the 2024 season with the Ottawa Redblacks and suited up for one game, but was traded to the Argonauts in the off-season.

The six-foot-two, 254-pound pass rusher played six collegiate seasons split between the University of Florida and Oregon State University. He totaled 67 tackles, 13 sacks and two interceptions in 49 career games, mostly as a rotation player.

It was Chatfield's first NFL workout.

NFL Practice Window opened on Monday, November 17th.. The window to sign with an NFL team opens January 5, 2026 and ends February 10, 2026 at 12:01 pm EST.

NFL teams must request permission from CFL franchises to train players, and that request cannot be denied. CFL players can opt out of their agreements north of the border if an NFL team offers a contract, although their CFL team retains its rights for the duration of the existing contract.

Meyers, Talbert and Wooden are awaiting CFL release, while five other players have one more season remaining on their current contracts.

The Broncos currently sit in first place in the AFC West standings with an 11-2 record. They are scheduled to host the Green Bay Packers (9-3-1) on Sunday, December 14th at 4:25 pm EST.
