Lane Hutson still hasn’t been penalized a single minute this season

Lane Hutson played a big role last night.

He not only played more than 22 minutes, but also blocked an important shot at the end of the game, made two assists, maintained a +3 difference…

In short, he was good.

Like I said in a message this morning(finally) playing on the left flank with a top quality defender brought out the best in him.

Now we don't always talk about Lane Hutson because he's doing what he's supposed to do and because his future in Montreal is guaranteed, but he's having a great season.

He never gives his team any trouble.

And by the way, it is interesting to note that he is the only regular skater (so far this season) on the Canadiens roster who has not yet received punishment.

Samuel Montembeault, Jacob Fowler, Alexandre Texier and Owen Beck are the only Canadiens players with a big fat zero in the penalty column.

Honorable mention to the captain's four minutes. It's not much.

This is a nice improvement for Hutson, who has 34 career penalty minutes. Those 34 minutes came in his first full year in the 2024-2025 regular season. show.

He learned to play defense without getting into trouble or stymiing his team. This is actually a big step forward.

This aspect goes a little under the radar, but it's still important.

This allows him to make more plays, not only because he's not in the box, but because it puts the Habs at a numerical disadvantage less often where they don't really make plays.
