Buying a New iPhone for the Holidays? Turn Off This Setting on Your Old Device

How to disable Find Me feature

1. Tap Settings on your iPhone.
2. Tap your name at the top of the menu.
3. Tap Find mine.
4. Tap Find my iPhone.
5. In the new menu, turn off Find my iPhone.

You can now give away your iPhone. However, if you have Stolen Device Protection enabled, you will not be able to disable Find Me. If you have Stolen Device Protection turned on, here's how to turn it off to turn off Find My.

1. Tap Settings on your iPhone.
2. Tap Face ID and Password. You may have to enter your password here to continue.
3. Tap Stolen Device Protection.
4. In the new menu, enable Stolen Device Protection.

After you turn off Stolen Device Protection, follow the steps above to turn off Find My. But before you give away your iPhone, be sure to delete all your personal information and factory reset your device, just in case. You don't want any information about your old iPhone to be spread everywhere.
