Jacob Fowler was solid tonight in his first NHL game. The young goalkeeper looked confident and won a big victory for his club.
And this confidence also gave wings to his teammates, who had a good formation.
It's clear the last few days have been stressful for Fowler. After all, 48 hours ago he was still in Laval… and now he's won a game in the NHL.
So, after the game, Fowler spoke about it in an interview with RDS… and the goalie mentioned something interesting: After his recall, he received a call from Carey Price.
Price called him and told him he supported him and wished him the best.
On RDS, Jacob Fowler just said that Carey Price reached out to him after he was called up by the Habs and said he supported him and just wanted to have fun. pic.twitter.com/oOPfWvy25W

Price, who is a member of the Sharks organization, remains clearly involved with some players in the Habs organization. Seeing him take a few minutes of his time to show Fowler some love is quite nice. chill.
And we can say that the child appreciated it too.
We know that Price, like Fowler, arrived in Montreal as the club's goalie of the future. So he's in a pretty good position to know what's in store for Fowler, and he wanted to use his experience to encourage child.
I can't wait to see if Price takes on some kind of role within the organization to mentor those goalies once his retirement becomes official. At least he seems to be doing so unofficially for now.
Extension
Speaking of Price, Pierre Houde and Marc Denis also mentioned to Fowler that he emulated Price, Ken Dryden and Patrick Roy by winning his first career game in Pittsburgh. AND child clearly not too carried away: he noted that he was still far from being in the same league as those goalkeepers.
Fowler also spoke to the media after the game, explaining that he grew up a fan of Sidney Crosby (and Marc-Andre Fleury). So it was special for him to play his first career game for Pittsburgh and do it against Crosby.
“Crosby and Fleury were my favorite players when I was younger, so he's hard to miss when he's on the ice.” -Jacob Fowler
