As for the film itself, Diversity film critic Owen Gleiberman is positive, and he writes in his review“There's a certain kind of summer movie that's so lively and action-ready, so filled with flash, talent and star power, not to mention a compelling theme, that before the movie even starts you can feel the thrill of excitement. Formula One is one of those movies.”
Directed by Joseph Kosinski, Formula 1 is about Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt), a down-on-his-luck racing driver who returns from retirement to be mentored by Joshua Pierce (Damson Idris), a bright, young and arrogant up-and-coming rookie racer. The unlikely pair will have to put their differences aside to work together to win it all. The film also stars Kerry Condon, Javier Bardem, Tobias Menzies and others.
