Time passes until Geoff Keighley emerges from his meaty cocoon again, brushes the Garibaldi crumbs off his suit and takes the stage to shout his usual question: “Who wants some?” We assume he means games, but one day he'll drive a front-row developer crazy and we won't be able to say he didn't warn us.
We're putting together a rundown of everything that was announced at Gaming Awards 2025 so you don't have to risk life and limb by getting too close to Jeff's grasping fingers.
If you're planning on staying the night, everyone who picks up a stool at James's is in for a good time. Game Awards 2025 Live Blog. However, if you'd rather not trade a good night's sleep for an early look at the trailers, check back here tomorrow morning for a complete list of everything that's been announced for the show.
For the games we find most intriguing, we'll write more complete stories, which I'll link to below.
What is it? The Game Awards haven't started yet? You could have fooled me, given all these…
Games confirmed for The Game Awards 2025
Total War: The Mystery
Last week those cheeky folks at Creative Assembly did a livestream that was a real shot in the eye for ol' Jeff. Total War: Medieval 3 was announced here. (and also dampening the excitement by saying that the release is still years away). However, to save Jeff's bloodshot eye, they also announced a big announcement for The Game Awards.
There have long been rumors that Total War would cross over into either Star Wars or Star Wars. Warhammer 40k. This may well live up to Creative Assembly's promise that “this game will be the next major Total War release and represents one of the most ambitious projects in the history of the franchise, marking the beginning of an exciting new era.”
Resident Evil: Requiem
First revealed at Summer Game Fest in June, Resident Evil Requiem is the ninth main game in the series. Capcom insisted that it would not star Leon, but would instead focus on the technical analysis of new character Grace Ashcroft. However, leaked cover from earlier this week definitely seemed to feature everyone's favorite cop-turned-super-soldier, suggesting that Capcom's pants are downright brilliant.
New Tomb Raider
Like a Roman emperor throwing another prisoner to the lions in the Colosseum, on Monday, Jeff posted a tweet teasing a “look into the future” of Tomb Raider. In a world surrounded by all this greedy attention, someone quickly found the cover and Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis trailer shown. The trailer has been removed, but reports from those who have seen it say it looks like a reboot of the series.
Confirmed gaming news is great, but what about the more salacious stuff? Dirty things that no one wants to stand near before nightfall? If you know what I mean…
Game Awards 2025 Rumors
Well, one of the worst kept secrets in gaming is the Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag remake. Looks like he's ready to jump out of the crow's nest with PEGI rating for Assassins' Creed Black Flag re-synced I noticed just the other day. Is it probably too late to rename the project? Something smaller would be nice.
Being Kaylie's show, Hideo Kojima is often hidden behind the scenes. Thanks to the recent ESRB rating for Death in Stranding 2: Regarding the PC release of The Beach, tonight could be the moment for an on-stage presentation. Maybe with the addition of some director's gabbins?
Chiaroscuro: Expedition 33 will likely win a major award tonight, so it will also be the perfect time for the team to unveil their next project. Whether it's expansion details or a teaser for something bigger.
And finally, while I was a gaming journalist, I heard rumors about the imminent disclosure Half-life 3. Once again, with the introduction of the Steam Machine, Steam Frame and the new Steam Controller, there's been more buzz about Gordon Freeman picking up his crowbar again. I want it to be true, but I have no reason to believe it is true. Nor will Valve announce it anywhere other than their own show. However, I'm not going to say I'll eat my hat if it's announced, because through it all, I remain optimistic.
I'll be updating this post throughout the night, and if all goes according to plan, when you wake up tomorrow it will be full of trailers and game announcements. If not, well, let's applaud my attempt.
