Hamilton Tiger-Cats sign QB Bo Levi Mitchell to two-year contract extension

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have signed quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell to a two-year contract through the 2027 season.

The Katy, Texas native, who turns 36 in March, caught a career-high 36 passes in 2025, along with 5,296 yards and 11 interceptions. He was named the East Division Most Outstanding Player nominee for the second year in a row and led the Tigercats to first place in the East Division.

“Once the season ended, I just didn't feel like it was over. I took the pads off and it didn't feel like it was the last time I was taking them off, so I was very, very excited about that decision. We have an amazing team, an amazing organization and great people around us. This is one of the best locker rooms I've ever been in and I love going to work every day,” Mitchell said in a statement.

The six-foot-one, 185-pound passer joined Hamilton when the team acquired his rights from the Calgary Stampeders after the 2023 season. He started 41 games and completed 67 percent of his passes for 11,778 yards, 74 touchdowns, 39 interceptions in Steeltown, already ranking among the team's top 10 all-time passers.

“Bo is a proven winner and elite athlete. His impact on our locker room and our organization goes far beyond what is seen on the stat sheet,” H said.This was announced by the team's head coach Scott Milanovich.

“He sets the standard every day with his preparation, leadership and toughness, and he is the kind of quarterback you want to lead your team. His command of the offense, real-time ability and willingness to learn elevates everyone around him. Having that kind of quarterback presence is invaluable.”

The three-time All-CFL player, two-time Most Outstanding Player, two-time Gray Cup champion and Gray Cup MVP has played in 207 CFL regular season games since 2012, throwing for 44,319 yards, 262 touchdowns and 128 interceptions. He ranks eighth on the CFL's all-time passing yards list and became the fastest quarterback in league history to 100 wins, doing so in 143 starts.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats finished first in the East Division standings in 2025 with an 11-7 record, although the team lost to the Montreal Alouettes in the East final. Bo Levi Mitchell led the CFL with 5,296 passing yards, 36 touchdowns and 11 interceptions after starting all 18 regular season games, earning an Eastern Division Most Outstanding Player nomination.

The Tiger Cats ranked third in net offense, eighth in net defense and first in turnover differential plus ten. The club's leading rusher was Greg Bell with 1,038 yards, the leading receiver was Kenny Lawler with 1,443 yards, and the leading tackler was Stavros Kasantonis with 69 tackles. Hamilton ranked fourth in attendance with an average attendance of 22,858, up 3.9 percent from the previous year.
