On Wednesday on Fox News Channel's “Outperformed,” Erica Kirk, CEO of Turning Point USA and widow of slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk, spoke about online conspiracies surrounding her husband's murder.
Kirk said, “It reminds me so much of Nehemiah chapter six. He's building a wall, and the townspeople at the bottom of this hill are saying, 'Nehemiah,' calling him all these names, saying all these things, 'Come down.'” Each time he had the same message four times in a row: “I can't come down. I'm busy building.” That's how I feel.
She continued, “I don't have time to deal with the noise. My silence doesn't mean I'm satisfied. My silence doesn't mean that somehow Turning Point USA and the entire hand-picked staff that loved my husband and my husband loved them are somehow involved in this. We're busy building. And you know what I thought? I thought these people were human. We're all grieving in our own way. And they're trying to find an answer to what happened, what was so evil. They try so hard. And I get We do the same thing. Every time we hear information or anything else, we send it to the authorities. I want justice for my husband, for myself, for my family more than anyone else.”
She added: “As for me, you want to keep telling me to get down while we're building, I don't have time for that. But here's my breaking point. Follow me, call me names – I don't care. Call me what you want, go down that rabbit hole – whatever. But when you go after my family, my family from Turning Point USA, my family from the Charlie Kirk show, when you go after the people I love, and you make hundreds and thousands dollars in every single episode after the people I love because they're somehow involved in this No?
Host Harris Faulkner said, “You know, I have to say this: I've never seen you like this.”
Kirk said, “No, I'm very-, it's righteous anger because it's not normal, it's not healthy. It's a virus of the mind. Yes, I believe in our judicial system. I do. We've got one hell of a team working on this, excuse my French. But it's not normal.”
Faulkner said, “So you want to put these people back in the box they came out of?”
Kirk said, “I don't care what box you're in. But just know that your words are very powerful, and we are people. My team is not machines or robots. They are people. We have more death threats on our team and on our side than I've ever seen. I have kidnapping threats. I have…whatever you call it, we have it. And my poor team is exhausted. And every time they come back to it, what are we supposed to do? Reliving this trauma over and over again? They saw my husband killed. I have no idea how I would have reacted if I had been there that day. But my team is shocked to the core, so why do they have to be dragged through the mud every single day?
She added: “And if people think I'm just going to wither away, I'm not going to sit in the corner and cry and be in the fetal position. I owe it to my husband and it's an absolute honor and I will never back down. And so my message to them is to stop. Stop.”
