Amazon's upcoming Tomb Raider adaptation appears to be picking up steam as film legend Sigourney Weaver is reportedly in talks to join the cast.
News provided Deadlinebut there are no details yet on who Weaver might play.
Weaver will star alongside Game of Thrones' Sophie Turner, who takes up dual pistols as Lara Croft in the series. Phoebe Waller-Bridge will write and executive produce, with Chad Hodge serving as co-showrunner and executive producer.
Weaver, of course, is already a genre icon – not only is she Ellen Ripley in the Alien films, but she's also set to join the Star Wars universe next year with The Mandalorian and Groguand she appears as Dr. Grace Augustine and young Kiri of the Na'vi in James CameronThe film “Avatar”. She will next be seen playing the role of Kiri in Avatar: Fire and Ashwhich will be released on December 19th.
The Tomb Raider series was first revealed in 2023but in April 2025 it was reported that the show was canceled. This turned out to be untrue, since Turner's casting has been announced and filming confirmed for 2026. in September.
According to the production company Story Kitchen, a Tomb Raider show, aims to “reinvent the franchise on a massive scale by combining new live-action television series and video games into a single storytelling universe.”
