Ubisoft's long-rumored Black Flag remake appears to be even closer to reality after a listing for Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced was spotted on the Pan European Game Information (PEGI) rating system website.
Rumors of a Black Flag remake first surfaced back in 2023, when it was reported A new version of the famous 2013 open-world pirate game has been in development at Ubisoft Singapore.who was still involved in Skull and crossbones' long development at that time. The report claimed that the remake is “in the very early stages” and is “at least a few years away” from release.
Four years later, the project has still not been officially announced (perhaps Ubisoft wants to avoid premature disclosure of information and another embarrassment in the style of Sands of Time), but this did not stop evidence of its existence from accumulating. For example, earlier this year, actor Matt Ryan, who played Black Flag protagonist Edward Kenway, hinted at a seemingly imminent remake, but Ubisoft threaten him with legal action.
However, now there's something called Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced. appeared (though seemingly not for long) on the PEGI website, rated 18 for violence, strong language and in-game purchases. So is Resynced the long-rumored Black Flag remake? Obviously, nothing can be certain until it's official, but at this point – and with a title like that – it's harder to believe that it isn't. And considering that Ubisoft recently confirmed this there was also an “unannounced game” that had to launch before March 31st. It will probably come out very soon next year.
All that remains is to make an official announcement, and with Geoff KeighleyThe Game Awards are set to begin their annual onslaught of announcements, commercials, and Kojima this week, and I know where I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for potential Black Flag remake reveals.
