Samsung has officially launched the public beta of One UI 8.5, its next major update for Galaxy devices. From December 8, 2025 users Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 PlusAnd Galaxy S25 Ultra can sign up for the beta program and get their hands on Samsung's upcoming firmware.
Initial release is limited to six markets: US, UK, Germany, South Korea, India and Poland. Although there is no confirmation yet, One UI 8.5 should be released worldwide next year along with Galaxy S26 Series. By then, many more devices will be eligible for the update.
With the update, users get a host of improvements such as an updated Photo Assist feature for smoother, seamless photo editing and a storage sharing feature that allows Galaxy devices (including phones, tablets, and even TVs) to seamlessly access duplicate files.
There's also a new Audio Broadcast feature that turns your Galaxy phone into a microphone for compatible devices. One UI 8.5 also includes a more customizable Quick Settings menu, refreshed app icons, and a couple of updates to core apps like the calculator, clock, and calendar.
With One UI 8.5, Samsung is redoubling its efforts to create a more robust and user-friendly experience. more integrated Galaxy ecosystemacting as a single platform rather than as separate devices. This helps with connectivity between devices, content creation (with the shared storage feature), and user security (with the new anti-theft system and lockout on failed authentication).
If you own a Galaxy S25 series smartphone, you'll be one of the first to try out the new One UI 8.5 user interface and features. Even if you don't currently have a compatible phone, Samsung should make the new firmware available for its older devices (e.g. Galaxy S24 and S23 seriesas well as current and earlier Galaxy Z Fold & Flip models) quite soon.
