The Calgary Stampeders have re-signed the Canadian wide receiver. Clark Barnes, who was scheduled to become a free agent in February. According to 3DownNation Reporter John Hodge, it's a one-year deal through the 2026 season.
The six-foot-one, 199-pound target caught 35 passes for 601 yards and two touchdowns over 14 regular-season games in 2025, setting a new career high in yardage. He also finished fourth in the league in yards per reception (min. 35 catches).
“Clark has made steady progress throughout his young career and is a serious threat to our offense,” head coach and general manager Dave Dickenson said in a statement. “With three seasons of experience under his belt, we look forward to further development and seeing him take his game to an even higher level in 2026.”
25-year-old native of Brampton, Ontario. Originally drafted in the third round of the 2023 CFL Draft out of the University of Guelph. Since then, he has 104 receptions for 1,425 yards and seven touchdowns.
“I’m glad to be back and looking forward to the season,” Barnes said. “Let’s win it at home this year.”
The Calgary Stampeders finished third in the West Division standings in 2025 with an 11-7 record, but lost in the Western semi-finals to the BC Lions. Vernon Adams Jr. threw for 4,247 yards, 21 touchdowns and 14 interceptions in 17 regular season starts, posting an 11-6 record.
The Stampeders ranked fourth in net offense, seventh in net defense and second with a plus-nine turnover margin. Dedrick Mills won the CFL title with 1,409 yards, while the team's leading receiver was Dominic Rhymes with 886 yards and the leading tackler was Jacob Roberts with 102 tackles. Calgary ranked fifth in attendance with an average attendance of 22,295, up 3.5 per cent from the previous year.
