Alex Cooper, Amy Poehler, SmartLess First Golden Globes Podcast Nominations

Golden Globe announced its first nominees for best podcast: Alex Cooper, Amy Poehler and the trio behind”SmartLess” among those who received awards in this category.

The six nominees for Best Podcast are: Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard; Call Her Daddy by Alex Cooper; “Good Communication with Amy Poehler”; “Mel Robbins Podcast”; “SmartLess” by Will Arnett, Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes; and NPR's “First Place.”

In May, the Globes announced plans to add an award for best podcast starting with a 2026 ceremony in recognition of “extraordinary and diverse talent in podcasting.” The category will debut at the 83rd Golden Globe Awards, scheduled for January 11, 2026.

The six nominees for the first Golden Globe podcast awards were selected from among the top 25 most popular podcasts deemed eligible and include both audio and video podcasts. The list of eligible podcasts was determined by Globes data partner Luminate based on listener metrics. Here's the full list of podcasts that were eligible for nomination:

To be eligible for a Globe nomination but not to be selected was Joe Roganwhose “The Joe Rogan Experience” is consistently ranked as the most popular podcaster in the business. A podcast with an interview with a comedian has been released #1 podcast on Spotify five years in a row and also led Apple Podcast and YouTube ratings for 2025.

Other popular podcasts that were eligible included Candace Owens' “Candace,” “Crime Junkie,” “The Megyn Kelly Show,” “The Tucker Carlson Show” and “Last Weekend with Theo Von.”
