Kody Brown Apologizes to Janelle 3 Years After Breakup

Kody Brown began his three-way “apology tour” to make amends with his ex-wives on the Dec. 7 episode of “Sister Wives.”

On the November 30 episode of the TLC series: father 18 years old passed this idea on to my only surviving wife Robin Brownand said he wanted to visit Janelle, Christina and Meri Brown to apologize for how he handled their split.

Kody Brown traveled to North Carolina on the December 7 episode to speak with Janelle Brown, who confirmed their separation in December 2022.

Ahead of the meeting, Kody Brown said he was aware he might be met with “rejection” and didn't want to “fight” any more with any of his exes. Meanwhile, Janelle Brown said she was curious to know why her ex-husband wanted to meet.

After some awkward small talk, Kody Brown got straight to the point and said he had a list of things he'd like to apologize for.

“I want to apologize for being so angry and so bitter about the family breakdown. Nobody deserved to make me that angry,” he said.

Janelle Brown appreciated the gesture and said, “I kept thinking, I don't know who this guy is.”

Kody Brown explained that his anger stems from “attachment” and admitted that he regrets never loving Janelle Brown.

“This is not true. It was a lie in terms of pain,” he said.

“I knew that you loved me. I knew. I know we had a great relationship, but I didn’t understand,” she replied.

“So I was a bitch for about three years because of this whole breakup. Four years. There are some mistakes I made, especially in polygamy,” he said.

Kody Brown then admitted that he didn't prioritize his relationship with Janelle Brown.

“I would like to see that you and I need to protect our special place. If I understood this, I think it would be much safer for you. I feel like I put you in danger and then didn’t step up to protect you,” he said.

Janelle Brown was touched by her ex-husband's words and tried to cheer him up by saying, “There was no book or anyone to give us advice.”

However, Kody Brown wanted to take full responsibility and said he wasn't “man enough” or “strong enough” to help her feel safe in their polygamy.

In a confessional interview, Janelle Brown said there were times in their marriage when she wanted him to stand up for her, especially in the early years.

Back in her meeting with Kody Brown, Janelle Brown said she approached their polygamy as an “idealist.” However, he said he had an obligation to protect her.

While meeting with his ex-wife, Kody Brown explained why he decided to meet with her first.

“I feel like we need an olive branch, the whole family, and Janelle, you are highly honored to be the person I felt safest with to start offering that olive branch,” he said.

“I'm grateful for what we had. “I’m really grateful,” she replied.

In a confessional interview, Janelle Brown said she thinks she and Kody Brown “still care about each other” after spending so many years together. However, this does not mean that there is hope for future reconciliation.

“I’m grateful for this experience and grateful that it came. It was helpful to hear some of those things,” she said.

However, she expressed hope that he will mend his damaged relationship with his children.

In his confessional interview, Kody Brown expressed gratitude for Janelle Brown's “gracious” behavior during their meeting.

“I thought she made that apology easier. This is a pilgrimage and I have been planning it for so long and it took me four years,” he said.
