Like Jerry explained on Good morning America“We look at these situations and I think we just feel that for each of us to be happy, it’s better to live separately.”
Teresa agreed: “We never got to the point where we made that decision.”
However, she later admitted that this was not the only factor.
“It’s not just about location,” she noted on November 2024 release Almost Famous podcast. “You really can't get to know someone in four weeks. I'll just say it.”
In November 2025, Jerry shared much more information, detailing a long list of incompatibilities in his memoir. Golden years. They disagreed on everything from food to how to spend money, but the biggest problem, Turner said, was that Teresa abandoned her plan to retire because she needed another year to build up her savings.
“I was a little hurt because her economic situation was not at all what she described on the show,” Jerry wrote, “leaving me wondering what else I had misunderstood or what she had misrepresented.”
