New trailer for the next one Path of Exile 2 The Last of the Druids update, released earlier this week, shows off all the cool things you can do in it! It mostly comes down to turning into animals, but in my opinion it's always a cool thing to do, in-game or not. Along with this trailer, the release date for the update was also revealed.
With less than a week left until release, the release is scheduled for December 12th, just in time for next weekend. As part of the new Druid class coming in the new update, in human form you'll be able to wield “magical staves to channel the forces of the earth and the natural world,” including summoning volcanoes, causing trees to use their roots to trap enemies, you know, Druid stuff.
In addition, you can take on three forms: a wolf, a bear, or a fire-breathing wyvern. Looks really neat to be honest! The Druid also has several ascension classes, one of which is the Shaman, who “channels the fury of nature, using rage to empower his spells and transform into a walking natural disaster, raining down meteors, lightning, and ice,” and the Oracle, who “has perfected the power of Precognition, using it in combat to gain a huge advantage by seeing into the future to predict a monster's movements and even distribute passive abilities from alternate timelines!”
However, here's the catch: Path of Exile 2 1.0's release date likely won't be March 2026, as previously planned. “I’m pretty confident we won’t make it out of 2026,” game director Jonathon Rogers said. eurogamer in a recent interview, continuing: “But like I said, I never want to completely promise anything. But I don't think it will end in March; We'll see”.
While no specific updated timeline was given, Rogers said he “definitely wouldn’t want to be later than the end of next year. Obviously we're trying to get there as quickly as possible, but I definitely wouldn't want to slide into 2027.” I'm sure this won't be great news for some, but hey ho, that's what early access can be like sometimes. Be patient, friend, version 1.0 will be released.
