Jessica Albaaka Honey Daniels from my favorite movie of 2003 (next to Kill Bill Tom. 1 And Love for real), reflects on his work in another classic favorite.
While attending the Red Sea Film Festival on December 5, Jessica took a trip down memory lane, revealing what it's like to be a woman in major blockbusters and how “humiliating” it was to film one particular scene in the classic 2005 Marvel superhero film. Fantastic Four.
In 2005, Jessica became the first Sue Storm in Fantastic Four with her. Chris Evans (Human Torch), Michael Chiklis (The Thing) and Ioan Gruffudd (Mr. Fantastic).
In the film, during the bridge rescue, Sue appeared completely naked using her superpowers, and it turned out to be Jessica's least favorite scene to film.
If her flowing clothes weren't embarrassing enough, her love interest/co-star Reed Richards made things worse with his untimely compliment.
After Sue blasted Reed for his ridiculous comment, her brother Johnny revealed what actress Jessica might actually be thinking while filming the scene.
“I thought it was terrible,” Jessica said. Diversity. “In real life it was humiliating. I grew up in a fairly conservative family and I'm a pretty modest person. I dreaded this scene for weeks. Since those days I have had many injuries.”
However, the single “embarrassing” scene doesn't detract from the experience of playing one of Marvel's first female superheroes on the big screen, with the exception of Storm (Halle Berry) and Jean Gray (Famke Janssen) from the 2000s. X-Men.
“She was the woman I looked up to. She was very motherly and very kind, but she was not a weakling; she was speaking her mind,” she continued.
“She had a great moral compass. No matter who you are, you can look up to her. Often the women in these stories need to be saved by a guy or a villain, and that's the problem with the story. That was then. Things are different now,” Jessica said.
Sure, that scene was funny, but Jessica as Sue overall was definitely iconic, and I'm crossing my fingers that she officially has a cameo in this movie. Avengers: Judgment Day.
