Cowboys coach: Will talk to Pickens about Sherman post

FRISCO, Texas – Dallas Cowboys Coach Brian Schottenheimer said he would talk to George Pickens about the receiver's social media post, which he subsequently deleted in response to criticism he received from the former All-Pro cornerback Richard Sherman airing on Prime Video on Thursday.

“I am aware of what was allegedly published there,” Schottenheimer said Friday. “I haven't talked to him yet. I understand that it was deleted, but I will talk to him, just check on him. Again, unfortunately, this is what we face in this profession. But I haven’t talked to him, but I will.”

Schottenheimer said he didn't notice a lack of effort on Pickens' part when he rewatched the film on Friday.

“I don’t think any of us coached or played well enough,” Schottenheimer said. later adding, “Basically, I'll judge George on his work, man. His work, he showed what an elite player he is and what a game changer he is. I have no doubt. We talked about CeeDee a couple of weeks ago, right. CeeDee came out of a tough game. [three drops], [against] Probably in Philadelphia. And you look at CeeDee and the way he performed last night, it was just incredible. He probably ran for over 200 yards before he had to leave with a concussion.”

Pickens has career highs in catches (78), yards (1,179) and touchdowns (8), all top 10 in the NFL.

As for Lamb, who had six catches for 121 yards before leaving the game, he is in concussion protocol. The Cowboys don't play again until Dec. 14.

“He had a good day [Friday]” Schottenheimer said of Lamb, “but he has to go through all the checks and balances of it all. I think a few extra days should help him.”
