Jonathan Mogbo embracing splitting time between the Raptors and Raptors 905 – Brandon Sun

TORONTO – Jonathan Mogbo will happily handle any role he is given, be it with the Toronto Raptors or Raptors 905, and any position he can fill on the court for any team.

“I love it, I can’t complain,” Mogbo said hours after playing for 905 on Friday morning and an hour before Toronto tipped off against the Charlotte Hornets. “I'm glad to be here. I'm grateful to have these opportunities and play the game I love. It's fun.”

Mogbo averaged 4.9 minutes per game in nine games for Toronto this season heading into the Charlotte game – a slump after a series of injuries forced the club to play him more than 20 minutes per game last year – with 1.6 rebounds, 0.9 points, 0.7 assists, 0.3 blocks and 0.1 steals per game in 2025-26.

The 6-foot-9 power forward is averaging 29.1 minutes over eight games in the G League this season. Mogbo is a regular starter for the 905, scoring 14.9 points while leading the team with eight rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.1 blocks and, impressively, 2.1 steals per game.

“Most people think I defend fours and fives, but I can switch from one to five,” Mogbo said. “Just the versatility of our coaching staff, it’s just another opportunity to show that I can protect the best players in the G League.”

It's still early, but the Raptors have recalled Jonathan Mogbo from Raptors 905 and “Raptors have assigned Jonathan Mogbo to Raptors 905” may be the most common phrases in Toronto's daily personnel reports this season.

Mogbo played five minutes in Toronto's 123-120 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday night, posting three rebounds, an assist and a block. He suited up for Team 905 the next morning with a 124–120 victory over the Capital City Go-Go, scoring eight points with three rebounds, an assist, a steal and two blocks in 25:32 of play.

Later Friday, he suited up again for a game in Toronto, playing nearly four minutes in garbage time in the Raptors' 111-86 loss to Charlotte, his third professional basketball game in 24 hours.

Toronto head coach Darko Rajakovic said Mogbo's dedication to the organization as a whole is “amazing.”

“It's a privilege that we can all work in the NBA and have the opportunity to play basketball,” Rajakovic said. “You go on a mission and play with a 905, take it seriously, it's your opportunity to work on your craft or your opportunity to show off your progress and be able to compete at the end of the day.

“All you can ask for as a player is an opportunity to get on the court and shoot some hoops.”

Mogbo said his approach to playing for two teams is simple.

“Sleep a lot when you get the chance, come home, do what you need to do, go to bed early, get up early,” said Mogbo, who scored two points against the Hornets.

“It's a little like college or a little like AAU, you know? Games early in the morning. So it's nothing new.”
