Carney will touch down in Washington, D.C. on Friday morning to attend the men's World Cup draw ceremony, which will be hosted jointly by the three countries.

However, Trump has recently gave a signal that he is willing to let the deal expire.

The deal he was instrumental in negotiating in 2018, called CUSMA in Canada and USMCA in the United States, will be reviewed next year.

“It expires in about a year, and we will either let it expire or perhaps work out another agreement with Mexico and Canada,” Trump told reporters at the White House on Wednesday when asked about the future of the agreement.
