Goat Simulator creators reveal new studio Feeble Minds

Coffee Stain co-founders Oscar Gilsen and Mikael Mord, who previously worked on hits Goat Simulator and Satisfactory, have announced the creation of a new studio called Feeble Minds.

Joining Gilsen and Mord on the team are Yannick Roiterberg (composer for Satisfactory), Johan Gustafsson (former Paradox product owner and programming manager), Sophie Irenheim (former art director at PocApp Studios), Marlos de Graaf (former junior level designer at Coffee Stain), and Klara Lindblad Oman (formerly an artist at Swedish developer The Bearded Ladies).

Feeble Minds launched back in 2022, but was only announced now. In addition to news about the studio itself, the developer presented its debut project – “soul roguelike for four players” Serpent's Gaze.

“We're a group of friends who have been playing together for a long time, and one type of game that we were missing from the market was co-op roguelikes,” said Roiterberg, the company's CEO.

“Combining this with our great love and respect for the souls formula, we decided to develop the very game we were missing. Since then, we've seen increased demand for both roguelikes and soullikes, and the combination of both is still rare. We now look forward to sharing our vision with the world!”

In a post on LinkedinCTO Gustafsson added: “About three and a half years ago, I made the seemingly foolish decision to suddenly leave Paradox Interactive. I was only there for a short time and the people there were so talented and nice to work with and I really enjoyed it. But even so, I left to pursue my own dreams. Today, I’m extremely excited to announce that the game I’ve been working tirelessly on since has finally made its demo debut on Steam, with a full release scheduled for early 2026.”

Coffee Stain was founded back in 2010 and gained immense popularity after the release of 2014's Goat Simulator. In 2018 the studio was acquired by THQ Nordic (which later became known as Embracer Group) for over $34.8 million..

In 2017 Coffee Stain Publishing is founded.which saw great success with games like Ghost Ship Games' Deep Rock Galactic and Iron Gate's Valheim – games that sold eight and ten million copies respectively.

In 2024, Embracer Group announced it would split into three companies, with the Coffee Stain & Friends group consisting of Coffee Stain Studios and a number of other developers.. In May of this year, Embracer announced plans spin off Coffee Stain Group as a separate organization by the end of 2025.

Feeble Minds isn't the only new company created by Coffee Stain veterans; in February of this year, former employees of the creator of Goat Simulator, as well as Mojang, formed a new publishing house Three Friends.
