Gregorios Kythreotis, creative director of the sci-fi hoverbike adventure. Sablethere's a new thing. He heads a new studio called Eteo, which plans to release its first game in 2027. Until then, the studio plans to launch a newsletter called Archetypes, due out in January, which will discuss various elements of game design.
Eteo will focus on “creating vibrant game worlds with a decidedly mischievous flavour” and will receive funding from Outersloth, an indie games fund run by Among us developers Innersloth for this untitled first game.
“We started [Sable studio] Shedworks about a week after I finished studying architecture,” Kythreotis recalls in the video announcing the studio above. “We’ve just been learning on the job for ten years now. Sable was our first really big game and it completely changed my life. Eteo is sort of the next step in this direction. Taking everything I learned from studying architecture, working in barns, from Sable, and applying it to new creative explorations, projects that are truly personal, but continue the line of world building, storytelling and games that really engage people on an emotional level.”
Starting January 2026, the studio will publish a free monthly newsletter, Archetypes. Over the next six months, as the first volume is in production, three authors per month will “explore unsung aspects of video game design, with each article exploring topics relevant to Eteo's design philosophy.” The theme of the first month is “Flying Cities”. Citizen Sleeping creator Gareth Damian Martin was invited to contribute along with Eteo community manager Emma Kent and two-time RPS member Christian Donlan.
If you are interested in Archetypes, you can register to obtain it through the Eteo website. Then maybe wait until the first issue comes out while re-reading books by former RPS player Alice B. Sable review. Come on, you know what you want.
