For manyThe debut season is nearing its end. Indeed, with The sixth episode of the sci-fi detective show is now available on Apple TVThere are only three chapters left until this season's finale.
However, there are more important things to discuss now, namely the new things Carol (and by proxy, we) learn about the Others in episode six, titled “HDP.” There is one more small question – whisper it quietly – Apple The TV Original protagonist has finally found an ally who also seems to want the world to go back to the way it was.
What did Carol see at the end of Pluribus episode 5?
Leading up to this week's article, the most important thing to mention was For many hanger on the rock series 5.
Thankfully, “DPN” doesn't commit the great sin of keeping us waiting to find out what the wronged Carol found. And, as many fans predicted, Apple TV The show's protagonist discovered that the Others were actually eating the dead.
It won't be long before we find out the reason for this. Once Carol reunites with the hedonistic Kumba at the Westgate Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, we discover that Kumba and 10 other immune humans are in regular contact with each other, and are also aware of the Others' penchant for human flesh.
It all sounds very creepy, but in a video recorded by The Others, which features Kumba featuring Carol, with a surprise cameo from none other than John Cena, they explain why they resorted to some form of cannibalism.
As we learned in episode 2—and as Cena reminds us in episode 6—Others cannot purposefully kill living things. It also turns out that the virus that infected them does not allow the Others to harvest crops, fruits and vegetables. However, they may eat the last of the food groups when they are ripe and, for example, fall from the tree, as apples do.
But let's get back to eating people. Again, as Sina explains, there are over seven billion people on planet Earth, and although an average of 100,000 people die every day, the world's food supply will eventually run out.
In short: Others consume several 300-calorie milk drinks a day that contain 8-12% of a compound called HDP. Or, to give its full name, “Human Protein.” Instead of allowing these nutrient-rich bodies to decompose, they are “harvested”, that is, ground up, vacuum-packed and frozen until needed, and then ground up and mixed with other fresh foods that are about to spoil to create the liquid-based consumables of the “Others”.
It's not like the others want But given the few alternatives available in terms of protein source, it is considered a necessary evil. Judging by Carol's reaction during and after the video, it's clear she disagrees—and I suspect many viewers, including myself, are on her side.
What else does Carol discover in Pluribus Episode 6?
By the way, there is one more thing that is of great importance.
WITH For many The premiere took place at one of the world best streaming servicesOthers pointed out that it was only a matter of time before the immunes were belatedly included in the Union. It's because Others will find a way to infect them with an extraterrestrial virus that the rest of humanity has succumbed to.
Or so we thought. Later in “DPN,” Kumba drops a stunning narrative: “Others cannot infect them without their consent.” They need to create a genetically modified version of the virus that can only infect every person, and to do this they need stem cells from every person, which The Joined cannot obtain without their consent. TL;DR: Carol and her fellow Resisters will continue to live their lives as normal unless they agree to join, well, the Joiners.
This does not mean that Others will not try to get around this problem. How I was theorizing at the end For many episode 3they can't lie. However, although this was confirmed in Chapter 4, the Others have shown that they can tell half-truths and/or twist the truth to suit their collective goals, especially if what they say could be used to their detriment. So, while they may say that invulnerable people can continue to do whatever they want, I'm not entirely sure that they won't find a loophole to exploit.
What is Manousos up to in Episode 6 of Pluribus?
It's been a couple of weeks since we caught up with Manousos, an enigmatic Colombian from Paraguay who is even more skeptical of “The Others” than Carol. Finally, it looks like Carol has finally found an ally who is just as obsessed with reversing the effects of the virus as she is.
The last 10 minutes of one of best Apple TV showsThe last part refers to three days before the events of the HDP. TL;DR: The Others deliver a video message to Manusos from Carol that there is a way to undo the Joining. He leaves his shelter in the container office to go home and gather supplies, and heads off to an unknown destination after a brief and disturbing encounter with an attached version of his estranged mother.
So where is he going? Given that he stores Carol's home address (it was attached to the envelope in which her videotape arrived), the logical answer would be the nearest airport. From there, all he has to do is fly to Albuquerque, find Carol and team up with her to try to find a cure. Simple, right?
Since this is a Vince Gilligan show, it's not that simple. However, it looks like it's only a matter of time before Carol and Manousos cross paths. Armed with what she had learned about the Others and Manousos's apparent experience with radio signals, which I pointed out in For many episode 4this couple may find a way to put the world to rights.
