Xbox is coming to college football
Game sponsorships in sports are not a new concept. Video games, studios, and consoles are all popping up in the diverse world of sports. However, this is the first time one of the big consoles has entered the college football battlefield. Today, Xbox and ESPN are pleased to announce that they will be sponsoring the first-ever college football game, the Xbox Bowl. The matchup will pit Missouri State against Arkansas State on December 18th at 9:00 pm ET. The press release contains more details about this inaugural event. Additionally, the press release quotes Shawn Johnson, the Bowl's executive director.
“We are proud to welcome Xbox as the title sponsor of this bowl game as their brand aligns perfectly with the excitement and energy of college football and especially the bowl season.” Johnson says, “Additionally, we are thrilled to have the opportunity to host two great football teams to compete in the Xbox Bowl.”
According to the report, Xbox is looking to bring its signature energy as a sponsor for the game. They hope to make this cup incredibly special and give fans Xbox-themed moments and on-site activations designed specifically for the cup.
As for the bowl itself, Arkansas State is participating in its third straight game and is eligible for the bowl for the 13th time as a member of the FBS.
