How Oura works
The Oura Smart Ring is a waterproof, wearable fitness tracker that can be worn on your middle or index finger. It uses built-in sensors that track various health indicators, including sleep, heart rate, temperature and activity level. Unlike a smartwatch, it doesn't vibrate or demand your attention—it simply and silently collects data that syncs to the Oura app on your phone via Bluetooth. Together, these statistics provide insight into how your body is functioning and healing.
What Oura Tracks
Oura Gen 3 and Gen 4 rings track the same basic metrics: Gen 4 simply offers a sleeker design, longer battery life, and (supposedly) improved sensor accuracy and overall functionality. While I can't personally vouch for Gen 4 just yet, here's a quick look at the data both versions collect.
The ring gives detailed information about your sleep mode (light, deep, REM sleep) to help you evaluate the quality of your rest, as well as resting heart rate And heart rate variability (HRV)– key markers of recovery and overall health. It also measures blood oxygen level and detects subtle changes in body temperature And respiration rate during sleep, which may signal illness. During the day it makes a difference stepsdetects various activityand assessments calories burned.
All this data goes to Readiness assessment (most days I'm in the 75 to 95 range) which reflects how ready your body is to perform. For women it offers menstrual cycle tracking and syncs with popular history apps. He also evaluates cardio fitnesswhich gives you an idea of the endurance of your heart and lungs. Everything is uploaded to the Oura app, where it is presented in a clear and digestible format.

My honest review
Pros
It's attractive. When I first ordered the Oura ring, I chose the gold finish from several color options (also available in brushed silver, stealth, silver, brushed titanium, rose gold, and black).
