On Wednesday, President Trump continued his verbal attacks on Minnesota's Somali community. During the tirade, Trump, discussing alleged fraud in Minnesota's social services systems, called Somali immigrants “trash” and said “they destroyed our country.” He also spoke about the deportation of Rep. Ilhan Omar, a Minnesota Democrat who represents largest Somali American population in the USA
Omar, who immigrated to the US at age 12 and is now a US citizen, joined Morning Edition discuss the president's statements. She called Trump's remarks “vile” and said it was not surprising because he has “peddled racism, xenophobia, bigotry and Islamophobia the entire time he has been in office.”
