The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed American wide receiver Collin Brunstein and brought back American running back Marcus Major Jr. to the team.
Brunstein is the all-time recruiting leader at Illinois College, a Division III program located in his hometown of Jacksonville, Illinois. He caught 219 passes for 5,047 yards and 77 touchdowns in 40 collegiate games and holds the record for most touchdown receptions of any receiver at any level of NCAA football.
The six-foot-two, 190-pound target was named a second-team All-American in 2024, earned an invitation to the FBS Tropical Bowl and participated in rookie minicamp with the Los Angeles Chargers after going undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Major Jr. joined Saskatchewan's practice squad midway through the 2025 season but did not play in the regular season.
The 6-foot, 220-pound ball carrier played at the University of Minnesota and the University of Oklahoma, rushing for a total of 1,185 yards, catching 43 passes for 321 yards and 14 touchdowns in 47 games.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders finished atop the West Division standings in 2025 with a 12-6 record, finishing first in the West Division for the first time since 2019. The team then defeated the Montreal Alouettes in the 112th Gray Cup in Winnipeg, the team's first championship in 12 years. Trevor Harris went 11-5 as a starter, throwing for 4,549 yards, 24 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
The Roughriders ranked second in net offense, second in net defense and third in turnover differential of plus eight. The club's leading rusher was AJ Ouellette with 1,222 yards, the leading receiver was KeSean Johnson with 1,159 yards, and the leading tackler was AJ Allen with 91 tackles. Saskatchewan ranked second in attendance with an average attendance of 28,427, up 2.7 per cent from the previous year.
