The Ottawa Redblacks have signed Canadian running back Daniel Adeboboye to a two-year contract that keeps him with the team until 2027.
The 26-year-old played all 18 regular season games for the Redblacks in 2025, rushing 70 times for 386 yards, catching 28 passes for 227 yards and two touchdowns. He was nominated for the team's Most Outstanding Canadian.
“Daniel is a player I have coached in the past and I am thrilled to have him back in Ottawa for the next two seasons,” said head coach and general manager Ryan Dinwiddie.
“He is a tireless competitor who helps lead both on and off the field. Daniel brings a physical edge to our game, contributes on special teams and helps set the standard in the locker room with his work ethic. He is a player who fits into what we are building in Ottawa and we are thrilled to have him with our club for the next two years.”
Native of Mississauga, Ontario. Originally a second-round pick of the Toronto Argonauts in the 2022 CFL Draft, he spent three seasons with the team, winning two Gray Cups. He was traded to Ottawa last offseason in exchange for a conditional fifth-round pick in the 2026 CFL Draft.
The five-foot-eleven, 215-pound ball carrier played in 71 CFL regular-season games, rushing for 989 yards, catching 46 passes for 354 yards and three touchdowns.
In 2025, the Ottawa Redblacks finished fourth in the East Division standings with a 4–14 record, missing the playoffs for the fifth time in the last six seasons. Drew Brown went 2-7 in nine starts at quarterback, throwing for 2,389 yards, 14 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Dustin Crum went 2-4 in six starts, throwing for 1,771 yards, six touchdowns and two interceptions.
The Redblacks ranked sixth in net offense, fifth in net defense and ninth with a minus-16 turnover margin. The club's leading rusher was William Stanback with 698 yards, the leading receiver was Justin Hardy with 1,019 yards, and the leading tackler was Adarius Pickett with 84 tackles. Ottawa ranked eighth in attendance with an average attendance of 18,136, down 4.2 per cent from the previous year.
