This is Andrey Markov's big return to the Bell Center.
The former Habs guard will be honored tonight in front of the team's fans, and he spoke with reporters in attendance for the occasion.
Markov admitted that he never imagined that such an evening was possible. And it is clear that he is happy that the organization allows him to experience such a moment.
“I never thought I'd have an evening like this.”

But in his comments… the main thing I picked up was this: Markov would really like to play 1,000 games in a Montreal Canadiens uniform.
Marc Bergevin let him go when Markov played 990 games in the National League… and the defenseman never reached the famous 1,000-game mark in the big leagues.
He says he makes peace with it all today.

This, of course, leaves a strange taste in the general's mouth.
He was so close to playing 1,000 games for the Canadiens… but Marc Bergevin decided his Montreal adventure was over anyway. We all agree that he deserved the chance to accomplish this feat, and that Bergevin's decision remains controversial to this day.
However, everything is fine if the main player seems to have left. But the point is the same: I would like him to have the opportunity to finish his career with the Canadiens properly.
And I'm 29439% sure I'm not the only one who thinks so.
