In addition to being the best troll (and I say that as a compliment) the White House has ever seen, President Donald Trump is also a master at making decisions or acting in a manner that almost dares Congressional Democrats and their sock puppet media to publicly oppose him.
This is a perfect example.
Trump announced Wednesday that he would pardon Democratic Rep. Henry Cuellar (Tex. 26), who was facing federal bribery charges. Cuellar, a frequent critic of President Biden's border policies, was indicted last year for allegedly taking $600,000 from Azerbaijan's state oil company and a Mexican bank in exchange for political favors.
Trump, as usual, Truth Social lit up declare a pardon, as only he can do:
For years, the Biden administration has used the justice system as a weapon against its political opponents and anyone who disagrees with them. One of the most prominent examples of this was Crooked Joe using the FBI and DOJ to “destroy” a member of his own party after respected Congressman Henry Cuellar boldly spoke out against Biden's “Open Borders” and “Catastrophe” border. Sleepy Joe went after the congressman and even his beautiful wife Imelda simply for telling the TRUTH. This is un-American, and as I have previously stated, the Radical Left Democrats are a complete and total threat to democracy! They will attack, rob, lie, deceive, destroy and destroy anyone who dares oppose their far left agenda, an agenda that if left unchecked will destroy our magnificent country. In view of these and other facts, I hereby announce my full and unconditional pardon of beloved Texas Congressman Henry Cuellar and Imelda. Henry, I don't know you, but tonight you can sleep peacefully – your nightmare is finally over!
Not only brilliant, but justified.
So now Democrats in Congress face another Trump-imposed dilemma: Will they condemn the pardon of Cuellar – one of their own – or will they wait for it? I mean, God knows they're not going to applaud this.
Here's a little background from January 2024, which puts Cuellar's opposition to Biden's deliberate smuggling of millions of illegal aliens into perspective:
Texas Democratic Rep. Henry Cuellar on Saturday implored President Biden to end the “catch and release” cycle that brings millions of illegal immigrants to the United States, echoing complaints from his House Republican colleagues.
“You have to have consequences at the border,” said the 10-year congressman from a district that includes Laredo, Texas. told Fox News.
“The asylum law, the criteria for admitting people, could be adjusted,” Cuellar said, adding that the existing law could be used to deport those who violate entry rules.
“If you encounter millions of individuals in a year and then bring in hundreds and hundreds of thousands of them, that becomes a pull factor,” Cuellar said. “That catch and release… is the pull factor.”
You probably remember Biden's continued claim (a blatant lie) that he needed Congressional legislation to stop the onslaught of illegal aliens, a narrative that the left-wing media eagerly repeated.
You also “may” recall that the Trump administration refuted this claim during the first few months of his second term by stopping the influx of illegals the old-fashioned way: not only by closing the border by force, but also by hunting down illegals already in the country, which, yes, is what most Americans voted for.
