Penultimate College football playoffs The rankings are out and the playoff situation is starting to become clearer this month.

Ohio and Indiana held their positions as the No. 1 and No. 2 teams, respectively. The Buckeyes got their four-year revenge on Michigan on Saturday, while Indiana forced Purdue to close out the regular season. The 12-0 teams will meet Saturday in the Big Ten Championship for the top spot in the College Football Playoff.

Texas A&M lost its spot in the SEC title game with a loss to Texas and fell to seventh place, but will likely still host a playoff game. This allowed Georgia, Texas Tech, Oregon and Ole Miss (despite Lane Kiffin leaving for LSU) to move up one spot from their rankings last week. The Red Raiders are currently in the bye week spot.

Steve Sarkisian and Arch Manning both committed to Texas' bid to the College Football Playoff after defeating Texas A&M. Although they have moved up, they are in 13th place and outside the current bracket.

Every team in the top 10 would make the playoffs if the season ended today, with the 11th and 12th spots currently reserved for the two remaining conference winners. This currently rules out No. 11 BYU and No. 12 Miami, but BYU will indeed face Texas Tech in the Big 12 title game. Miami, however, will likely be out of the standings given that their conference championship will be between No. 17 Virginia and unranked Duke.
