Samsung has a new foldable smartphone, and it's not just another Z Flip or Z Fold. The Galaxy Z TriFold has three articulated sections that house a massive 10-inch tablet-style screen, as well as a traditional smartphone screen on the outside. The luxury new smartphone will be released this month in South Korea at a high price and will eventually arrive in the US in early 2026.
Samsung says for TriFold, the company has improved the Armor FlexHinge design. The two hinges on the device are slightly different in size because the three panels of the phone are shaped differently. The central panel is the thickest – 4.2 mm, and the other two are a fraction of a millimeter thinner. The phone has obviously been designed to accommodate a variety of sizes and weights, allowing the body to fold tightly into a pocket-sized form factor.
The impressive Huawei Mate XT triple phones are widely circulated online, but they are not available in Western markets. Samsung's new foldable smartphone looks similar at first glance, but the way the three panels are connected is different. The Mate XT folds in a Z-shape configuration, using part of the main screen as a cover. In a Samsung phone, the left and right segments fold inward and are covered with a separate screen. Samsung says it has thoroughly tested the design to ensure the hinges will withstand daily use for years to come.

While this pushes the definition of “pocketable” to some, the Galaxy Z TriFold is a tablet that technically fits in your pocket. When folded, it is 12.9mm thick, which is much bulkier than Galaxy Z-fold 7Profile 8.9 mm. However, the TriFold is only slightly thicker than older Samsung foldable tablets like the Galaxy Z Fold 6. The 1080p screen size is 6.5 inches, which is also very similar to the Z Fold 7. However, for a phone it is very, very heavy, weighing 309g.
